First Deployment Hurricane Laura as an American Red Cross Volunteer

Hello or Hola Y’all.

I was first sent to Mississippi, then sent to Baton Rogue and finally landed in New Orleans as the storm shifted along Louisiana and Texas. Residents that evacuated were being place in hotels due to CoVid. We were deployed before the storm to be in position when the storm hit and be boots on the grounds as the needs were better understood. As we awaited our assignments, things were constantly shifting to the meet the current situation.

This link will take you to an article highlighting a photo slide show taken during the initial phases of the disaster response. You will see me with mask and gloves while we do our best to convey passion in this Covid environment.  I am seen in the photo 5 and 6 of the slideshow.

Hurricane Laura Red Cross Responds

Although I served as a shelter associate for this deployment, my mission and purpose is to be on the Disaster Spiritual Care team.
