#ThinkLoveFirst Tuesday – Thought for the Day

Have you ever wondered what is going on behind the heart and mind of the person that is behind  aggressive or hateful remarks?  What is going on in that person to cause them to treat another that way? What do they hate about themselves that makes them feel they need to point fingers at someone else or tear someone else apart? Often you will see this exercised in comments where they can hide behind the ugliness.

Does it make them feel powerful? They make think this is an act of power.  The truth is that person is actually wearing their hurt masking it as courage. This is not courageous or powerful, in fact, it is the farthest from the truth. Denial can be a dangerous thing when we are acting negatively towards another person. True healing comes when we get honest with ourself about what is really going on. Often these experiences are living in our subconscious. Acknowledging your responsibility for your actions is when the true healing can begin. This is where freedom lives.

Remember, Jesus’ example on the cross, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.”  Let us always remember that words can and do hurt others. More importantly, if you think you are hurting someone else with you words, consider what it is doing to yourself.

Compassion for self and others is the goal!
